What people are saying about us
First and foremost, the service provided by Ted and assistant Stephen was fantastic. From our initial dealings by email, to when we were met at the train on arrival, to being driven to our next accommodation at Myoko and everything in between. The accommodation location is right on the shores of the lake. Every room has a fantastic, stunning view of the lake and surrounding mountains. The rooms are of a good size, Japanese style, good wifi and have a small sitting room, lake facing, to enjoy the vista. Nojiri would be a busy place in warmer seasons but we found plenty to do with smelt fishing on the lake, shoeshowing, walking around the area and just enjoying the comfortable hotel and views. It's a short drive from the Myoko ski resorts, where we headed next, but other guests were staying lake side and taking the short drive to the slopes each day.
Awesome, mind-blowing, and exceeded our expectations.
The entire stay was awesome. We picked a Japanese-styled bedroom and the room and its bathroom was really clean. The host (Ted) was one of the friendliest we've met, and went beyond his offered services, providing tours (onsen!) and recommendations around the place. Him being able to speak both English and Japanese fluently is also a bonus! Definitely will come back again in the future for a stay for a winter ski-trip. Oh and the scenery is perfect!
Theordore and Stephen were nothing short of incredible! Their hospitality was outstanding, we knew nothing about this beautiful place and what we were going to do. They were full of advice and ideas, we felt very comfortable and welcomed staying here. They went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay here. Absolutely fantastic service! We will be back for sure!
We felt like we were staying with old friends, not at a hotel. Owner Ted picked us up at the train station and was very gracious and warm. He was often sitting in the lobby when we returned and would ask us about our day. We chose a Japanese room and slept on the tatami mats. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and plentiful. Ted arranged a visit to an ancient temple on the island in the lake via their rowboats. We borrowed their bikes to tour the town. We wanted to pick up regional food items for gifts and Ted drove us to the store on our way to the train station. We left the resort feeling relaxed and rested.
Beautiful place with a great view of Lake Nojiri Owner/Manager Ted was brilliant, not only was he friendly and accommodating– man’s got a good heart! He brought me out cycling fully around the lake, always ready to facilitate any activities you might want to do. He also assisted me in recovering my misplaced wallet at the train station which I am extremely grateful and appreciative of, thank you Ted!
